UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Lock Haven field hockey team opened its road schedule on Sunday (Aug. 30) by traveling to Penn State for a non-conference game and fell 8-0.
 
Both programs moved to 1-1 on the year.
 
The Haven held the Nittany Lions to just one goal in the first half, however, Penn State used a five-goal third quarter to pull away. PSU added a pair of goals in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring.
 
Penn State led 12-4 in penalty corners and 22-3 in shots on goal.
 
Maddie Friend led the Haven with two shots on target, while goalkeeper Quinty van Luijk finished with a game-high 13 saves.
 
Next up for The Haven:
The Bald Eagles return to Charlotte Smith Field on Sunday, Sept. 6 at noon and will host Georgetown in a non-conference game.
