CLEVELAND – Wyatt Henson went 2-0 during Session 3 on Friday morning (March 20) to earn a trip to the round of 12 at the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Wrestling Championship in Cleveland.
In his first match of Session 3, 13
th-seeded Henson used an escape to build a 1-0 lead in the second period, before clinching a 4-0 decision with a takedown in the final period to defeat No. 19 Haiden Drury from Utah Valley.
Advancing to the third round in consolations, Henson squared up with the No. 21 seed Taylor Wells from Oklahoma. The senior held Wells at bay through two periods, before scoring four straight points in the third period to lead 4-0. A Wells' escape and takedown evened the score, but riding time ultimately secured the 6-4 victory for Henson.
With the win, Henson advances to tonight's round of 12 and has the opportunity to earn All-American status with another victory.
Session 4 is set for 8 p.m. tonight and will air live on ESPN2. Henson is set to face the No. 7 seed Nasir Bailey from Iowa.
On Thursday, Henson went 1-1 with an opening round major decision victory (11-2) over No. 20 Julian Tagg (South Dakota State).
The senior is now 25-6 on the year.
