Schans earns record-breaking performance as Men’s Track & Field has strong showing at Bison Outdoor Classic

Josiah Schans of the Lock Haven men’s track and field team breaks a program record as the Bald Eagles continue an impressive spring season.

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven men's track & field team had a strong showing at the Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday (April 11) and Sunday (April 12).
 
Josiah Schans continues to impress as he broke his own program record in the 110m Hurdles.

Schans took first place as he finished in a speedy 14.09 seconds. The time was an NCAA provisional and a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship qualifier.

Matt Reinard also earned a PSAC qualifier in the 110m Hurdles with a 15.26.

Schans and Reinard both put up great times in the 400m Hurdles as well. Schans finished in 53.27 and Reinard in 53.66. Both earned championship qualifying times and came close to the NCAA provisional mark of 53.06.

Eric Zalar had a strong performance in the Hammer Throw. Zalar reached a mark of 193-1 (58.85m) and reached an NCAA provisional and PSAC qualifier. He finished seventh in the event.

Jakob Rager had a breakout performance in the 1500m. Rager broke his personal best by ten seconds as he finished in 3:48.12. The time puts him second in Lock Haven event history. Rager earned a PSAC qualifier and nearly earned an NCAA provisional.

Gavin Furey was also notable in the 1500m. Furey finished in 3:54.63 and earned a PSAC qualifier.

Peter Bellomo reached 188-3 (57.38m) in the Javelin Throw to earn a conference championship qualifier and finish seventh in the event.

Anden Aitkins earned a PSAC qualifier in the 800m by finishing in 1:52.81.

Kristian Mizdail earned a PSAC qualifying time in the 5000m. The freshman crossed the finish line in 14:47.66.

Sam Wible came close to a PSAC qualifying mark in the 400m (49.69) and Jorge Santana came close in the 400m Hurdles (56.90).

Michael Lawrence also reached a strong mark of 45-1.75 (13.76m) in the Triple Jump.

Reinard, Aitkins, Wible and Schans teamed up to take eighth in the 4x400m. The Bald Eagle quartet finished in 3:21.70.

The Lock Haven men's track and field team will head to Messiah to compete in the Coach P Invite on Friday (April 17) and Saturday (April 18).
