Schans & Zalar set for NCAA Division II Men’s Track & Field Indoor Championships

Josiah Schans & Eric Zalar of the Lock Haven men’s track & field team are set to compete at the 2026 NCAA DII Indoor Championships

 VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Josiah Schans and Eric Zalar of the Lock Haven men's indoor track and field team are set to compete in the 60m Hurdles (Schans) and the Weight Throw (Zalar) at the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The national championships will be held March 13-14 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center at 10 a.m.  Norfolk State will serve as the host of the event.

Zalar will compete in the Weight Throw Finals at 2:00 pm on Friday (March 13). Schans will compete in the 60m Hurdles Prelims at 2:45 pm on Friday (March 13) with a chance to qualify for the 60m Hurdles Finals on Saturday (March 14) at 3:40 pm.

 Schans is coming off a Lock Haven record-setting performance at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships (Mar. 1). Schans finished in 7.94 seconds and took home the conference championship. 

Schans enters the NCAA Championship ranked 12th in the country. The junior made his way into the field with his performance at the PSAC Championship meet.

Zalar took home second place at the PSAC Championships. The junior had a throw of 65-7.5 (20.00m). He enters the NCAA Championships ranked 13th in the country.

Zalar earned his berth back on January 24 when he set a mark of 67-2 (20.47m) at the Gulden Invitational hosted by Bucknell. That mark stands as a Lock Haven record and was a PSAC record at the time.
