First-half excellence powers Lacrosse to 18-7 victory at Tiffin

The Bald Eagles hit the road for the first time this season for a non-conference game at Tiffin

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Lock Haven lacrosse team scored 16 goals in the first half on its way to an 18-7 road victory at Tiffin in non-conference action on Wednesday (March 11).

Wednesday marked The Haven's first road contest of the season and the Bald Eagles improved to 3-1 on the year. Tiffin moves top 2-4.

The Bald Eagles scored nine goals in the first quarter before adding seven more to build a 16-2 lead heading into the break, and ultimately put the game away through the opening 30 minutes.

Tiffin's best period came in the fourth, when they outscored Lock Haven 4-1, but The Haven's first-half dominance proved to be too much.

Makayla Kelly led the way for Lock Haven with a career-high seven goals and two assists, totaling nine points. Her single-game goal and points mark sits just outside the top-10 in program history.

Lexi Bunk scored three goals and dished out two helpers, while Gabby Gunnip also notched a hat-trick. Gunnip added three caused turnovers, four ground balls and nine draw controls.

Bella Seidel, Allore Needle, Jordan Ellis (assist), Maddy Raspen and Peyton Masters (assist) also found the back of the net.

Gretchen King earned her third victory in net for The Haven, finishing with eight saves.

Mackenna Brown and King also finished with three ground balls.

Next up for The Haven:

The Bald Eagles remain on the road and will travel to Maryland to take on Frostburg State in a non-conference game at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18.
