Four Bald Eagles set to represent the Lock Haven women’s wrestling team at upcoming national championships

INDIANAPOLIS – Earlier today, the NCAA released the brackets for the upcoming NCAA Women's Wrestling Championship, and the Lock Haven's women's wrestling team's four national qualifiers now know their opening opponents for the national championship competition.
 
The 2026 NCAA Championship – the first ever NCAA Women's Wrestling Championship – is set for March 6 – 7 at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.
 
Lindsay Laws, Azariah Moore, Jayleah Pletz and Presley McCandlish will represent the Bald Eagles at the NCAA Championship.
 
Opening Bouts for Lock Haven:
124#: Jayleah Pletz vs. Annesley Day (Tiffin)
160#: Presley McCandlish vs. #6 Taylor Graveman (North Central)
180#: Azariah Moore vs. Gemma Templeman (Emmanuel)
207#: Lindsay Laws vs. #1 Tristan Kelly (McKendree)
 
Last weekend (Feb. 20 - 21), Laws (207#) won the NCAA Region 2 title by going 3-0 on the weekend, after pinning all three opponents she faced.
 
Moore captured second place in the 180# division behind two tech falls on Friday and a 10-4 decision in Saturday's semifinals.
 
Pletz (124#) earned runner-up with two pins on Friday and an 8-0 decision in the semifinals, while McCandlish (160#) also collected silver behind two pins on Friday and a 14-4 tech fall in the semifinals.
